Making Books and Paper

Some of you might be interested in these books if you're interested in making your own books.
• The Art and Craft of Handmade Books by Shereen LaPlantz
• Creating Handmade Books by Alisa Golden
• Keith Smith Books (Online site listed under Reading and Resources)

Interested in hand papermaking?
• The Papermaker's Companion: The Ultimate Guide to Making and Using Handmade Paper by Helen Hiebert
• The Art and Craft of Papermaking by Sophie Dawson

There are many other books that I found informative and helpful, but these are ones I'd recommend highly to begin. If you do a search on Amazon or other book shops, you'll be able to find more information about them. I also love Keith Smith's books, especially his Volume II.

  1. Thanks for the resources! I have many fond memories of making paper when I was little ... and it would really be an excellent way of using some of this junkmail that I get! Although I do wonder if the glossy paper would work well for it. Maybe one day I will have some extra time to play around with it!

  2. Lets see I tried making paper once. Lets just say it took days to scrape up the mess.

  3. You're welcome! Yes, you can use junk mail, but stay away from the glossy and newsprint stuff. Usually, good recycled paper will result in good handmade paper. I recall when I first made paper, it was fun to see tiny letters mixed in on the finished sheets.

Beach House Living... Oh, no! Forgot to place the lid on the blender?
I've had similar incidents using my Hollander. There is a lid on the grinder part and I forgot to place it back on. Pulp flying everywhere!
